Since we have been getting this question a lot lately, I figured I would address this question on the blog. When should a bride purchase her dress? To be honest it’s never really too early to purchase your dress. We have had brides buy their dress as early as two years before the wedding. The average time it takes for a wedding dress to come in is about 4 to 6 months before the wedding, though some manufacturers do take longer. I would recommend ordering about 8 months to a year before the wedding. That way there is plenty of time to do alterations and should there be any issue, which rarely happens, there would be plenty of time to correct it.

If you are running late in regards to finding your dress, there is still time to order. Almost all manufacturers offer rush shipping for 4 to 5 month delivery. We also have some manufacturers that have delivery times of 6 to 8 weeks. Please keep in mind when you are ordering a dress for a rush delivery there is usually an additional charge.

Should you be even in a tighter time crunch we do have manufacturers that have some dresses in stock, though the variety of dresses may be limited. Another option would to purchase off the rack, which we can accommodate.

I hope this answers some of your questions as to when a wedding gown should be ordered.
